What are your course offerings?

Our course offerings continue to evolve. Our flagship courses are the SpIRiT and STEPPSI.

The SpIRiT© (Sensory processing/Integration Reasoning interactive Tool) is a mindful clinical reasoning tool for ensuring best practice in pediatric occupational therapy. The SpIRiT introduces a clinical reasoning framework for combining sensory, affective, and motor (SAM) processing into a relationship-based, sensory integrative model of intervention.

The STEPPSI provides an overview of the theoretical foundations of sensory modulation from occupational therapy literature and related neuroscience research that is woven into a model for clinical reasoning that we call “STEPPSI”. We offer a framework for planning, implementation, and monitoring treatment, using the acronym associated with each step: Sensation, Task, Environment, Predictability, Playfulness, Self-Regulation, and Interactions, that clinicians can adopt and use in everyday practice. The course includes pre-recorded lecture videos, integration of learning activities, and a case study assignment.

What are cohort learning options?

The cohort models of our flagship courses allow for participants to dive deeper into learning materials, engage with fellow clinicians through our online community platform, and participate in live, cohort meetings with the Learning Journeys team. Evidence tells us that learning in community fosters a richer, more integrated learning experience. The group meetings are recorded, but cohort members are strongly encouraged to participate in the live format. Cohorts are generally small and allow for participants to ask individual questions, discuss cases facilitated by the leaders, and reflect on practice together.

What are self-paced learning options?

The self-paced versions of The STEPPSI and The SpIRiT courses are available throughout the year to allow for increased participation and access related to scheduling needs. Learners have access to pre-recorded course videos and associated learning materials for 120 days (~4 months) from the date of enrollment. Additional information can be found on the self-paced course pages

Which course should I take first?

While there is no wrong way to engage in our courses or utilize the associated clinical reasoning tools, at this stage we would gently recommend taking the STEPPSI course first and the SpIRiT second if you are looking for guidance or where to begin.

Can I be in a cohort with my team?

You can always register together for the same cohort if there are spots available. If you have a group of learners (5 or more) that would like to take the STEPPSI or the SpIRIT together as a private cohort, please reach out to [email protected] and we can discuss further details.

Do you offer in-person learning?

Tracy and the Learning Journeys team regularly travel to offer our courses in-person. These opportunities are limited, so if you would like to host us for a continuing education opportunity, please contact [email protected] for additional information.
